Is Alabama the True National Champion?

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images

The Alabama Crimson Tide won the BCS Championship Monday night 21-0 over the LSU Tigers. LSU won the first meeting 9-6 in overtime. The Tide missed 4 field goals in that first meeting. If the Tide make just one or two of those field goals the season changes for many teams at the top of the polls at the end of the season. OSU is trying to lay claim that they would have gave the Tide or the Tigers a better game. OSU barely survived past Stanford. The BCS system is BS but the system did was it was designed to do gave football fans the two best teams in the country. Alabama dominated LSU on Monday night. If someone saw the score their first thought would have been that the Tide won by three touchdowns. That was not the case. The Tide scored one touchdown with less than five minutes left in the game. Just like the first time it was all field goals to that point. One stat that really sticks out and has been made fun of plenty by LSU haters, is that LSU only advanced past the 50 yard line once in the game. LSU also only managed 92 yards of offense. LSU did win the first matchup but in my opinion Alabama beat themselves in the first matchup and proved Monday night that  they were the superior team in the SEC and thus the Country.

Cotton Bowling: Hogs vs Wildcats

There was no denying at the beginning of the season that Arkansas would make a bowl. A lot of fans including myself had very high hopes for this years team. I still feel that the Hogs had a good year. Their two loses come to the teams playing in the BCS National Championship, LSU and Alabama. Since the BCS has a two team from a conference rule the #6 Razorbacks had to settle for either the Capital One or Cotton Bowls. Cotton was the best pick for the Razorbacks between those two I think. The Capital One is more of a prestigious bowl but the Cotton will give the Hogs the most exposure. It will be the only bowl on Jan 6th on FOX. It is also FOX's only game so it should get plenty of promotion. The SEC shares the bowl revenue so the money difference wont mean much. The BCS is just a busted system. My  main concern for this game is the turnover in the coaching staff. Paul Petrino is back as the offensive coordinator, replacing Garrett McGee who left to take the Head Coaching job at UAB. Paul Hynes was named Defensive Coordinator on December 12th. He replaced Willie Robinson who resigned. John L. Smith left as the special teams coordinator to became head coach at Weber State. Kansas St does have a running quarterback offense and those do give the Hogs trouble. Even with that said I think the Hogs will be fine. The wildcats defense is terrible. Hogs should win in a shot-out at worse. One other big plus for the Hogs playing in the Cotton Bowl is that its at Jerry World in Dallas. That is like a third home game for the Hogs. Arkansas fans should show up in groves and make their presence known. Nothing like that Hog call  to rattle the opposing team. I would imagine the Hogs would like to leave the Dallas area with a better image of them than the last time they played there against Texas A&M earlier this season. This game should live up to the hype of being the third best bowl game.
I am going to go with the final score of Hogs 42 KSU 24
What your thoughts on the game?

The University of Connecticut Huskies are the National Champs but are they the best team?

Connecticut won what a lot of people consider the worst championship game ever on this past Monday night. The Huskies play terrible but lucky for them the Butler Bulldogs played even worse. Butler was bricking so many shots that you would have thought they were building a house. On twitter so many jokes were made about the bricks. UCONN was on a major run. They won 11 straight games on there way to the title. They won 5 games in 5 days in the Big East Tournament. They also won the Maui Invational as well making them undefeated in Tournament play. They are a good team and a very hot team but were they the best team. They were the better team Monday night, but that is what the NCAA Tournament provides, Chance. Every Division 1 Conference Champ gets into the tournament as well as some teams that didn't win to round out the field. When the tournament starts every team has a chance to become champ. That is the great thing about the Tournament. Its not like the BCS in College Football where its all politics. This year proved that the mid-majors have some of the better teams because they have more mature athletes than the big boys do. The big boys: Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, etc.. have some one and dones and kids leaving after just a few years. The smaller schools like VCU keep kids longer and they get more mature and better skilled. A lot of people I have talked to on Twitter and read reports from National and Local media think that Ohio State was the best team this year. Sometimes the best team isn't always the champion.

Who do you think the best team was in College Basketball this year?

Hogs declaw the Tigers

The Arkansas Razorbacks finished off the regular season with a big win over 5th ranked LSU Tigers 31-23. Arkansas is 10-2 and 6-2 in the SEC.  Big plays were the name of the game today. Ryan Mallett had two touchdown passes for 80 yards or more. Both of those passes were to Cobi Hamilton. Hamilton has stepped up big time in place of the injured Greg Childs. Knile Davis did what he does best gaining 153 yards on 30 carries. DJ Williams played like the best TE in the country. Jericho Nelson and Tramin Thomas played like men possessed for the defense. Special teams wernt very specail  they bended quite a bit but didnt fully break. Alex Tejada had a few game saving tackles. Overall the Hogs played a great game and now sit back and wait to see what bowl they will play in. If Auburn wins the SEC they will play for the BCS National title and the Razorbacks would be the second best team in the SEC and should get a bid to the Sugar Bowl. If Auburn loses then South Carolina would represent the SEC in the Sugar Bowl and the Hogs should be looking at Capitol One. The Razorback fans are starting to taste the sugar. Hog fans need to root on Cam Newton and Auburn next week in the SEC Championship.
