How did I do with my predictions for the 2010 Razorback Football Season

 Now that the season is over I wanted to look back at how did I do in my predictions of the season.  I didn't do to bad. I had the Hogs only losing once. They lost three times including the bowl game. My scores were pretty close with the closest being the UTEP game. I did predict the Hogs playing in the Sugar Bowl but I said it was going to be by way of the SEC Championship.  Take a look below at the original blog that I wrote. The prediction has a line through it. The real score is larger and in parenthesis. Let me know what you thought was going to happen compared to how the season turned out.


With just a few days away from kickoff of the 2010 Razorback football season I figured it was time for a Season preview. In future blogs I will preview each game in more detail the week of that particular game.

Game 1: Ark vs Tennessee Tech.
Not much to say about this game. Good tuneup game against someone other than teammates. Should put up lots of points. The big question is going to be how does the defense look.  Ark 56 Tenn Tech 9. (Hogs 44 Tenn Tech 3)

Game 2: Ark vs Louisiana Monroe. (War Memorial)
Again a cupcake game. This game should be a little tougher and probably a little closer. This will be a better test for the defense to get ready for Georgia and SEC play. The only other thing to mention here is Why are not playing ASU instead of this Sunbelt team.  Ark 49 Louisiana Monroe 15.(Hogs 31 ULM 7)
 
Game 3:  Ark at Georgia.
Arkansas should be 2-0 going into the showdown between the hedges. This is going to be a good game. Arkansas was doing well against them last year till they melted down and lost Jerry Franklin for the game. Arkansas should be fired up and ride good emotions into this game.  Ark 28 Georgia 21.  (Hogs 31 Dawgs 24)


Game 4:  Ark vs Alabama.
With both Ark and Bama undefeated going into this game ESPN College Gameday should be in town for the big game. The uncertainty of Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram wont mean much because of back up Trent Richardson. Bama will likely be to much for the hogs defense. Ark 14 Bama 28 (Hogs 20 Bama 24)

Game 5: Ark vs Texas A&M ( Dallas Cowboy Stadium)
Last year the hogs didn't have much trouble with the Aggie's. A&M should be improved this year but they hogs should be too much. Hogs get back on the winning track this week. Ark 38 Texas A&M 14 (Hogs 24 Aggies 17)

Game 6:  Ark at Auburn
This game will be a tough one to predict. This game is a 50/50 game. Both teams are good and pretty even. Depending on what happens in the game vs A&M will determine how Arkansas shows up for this game. Petrino has been pretty good at not letting the team have a let down. Ark 21 Auburn 20. (Hogs 43 Tigers 65)
Game 7: Ark vs Ole Miss
This is a big game for the Hogs. Ex Coach Nutt has had the hogs number since he left Arkansas to take over Ole Miss. Ole Miss doesn't know who their quarterback will be which will cause problems all season for the rebels. Arkansas changes the streak for the rebels. Ark 35 Ole Miss 14 (Hogs 38 Ole Miss 24)

Game 8: Ark vs Vanderbilt
This should be a big win for the hogs. Florida comes off the schedule and we get a true winnable game in Vanderbilt. Not much to say other than. Ark 45 Vandy 13   (Hogs 49 Vandy 14)

Game 9:  Ark at South Carolina
This game is another 50/50 game. Arkansas has gotten better at showing up when they are supposed to but South Carolina is still having that issue. If Stephen Garcia is on his game the Gamecocks will give the hogs all they can handle and more. If he is not then this would be a walk over game for the Hogs. I am going to say the Hogs take care of business. Ark 35 South Carolina 14  ( Hogs 41 USC 20)

Game 10: Ark vs UTEP
I can honestly say I don't know much about Texas El Paso. This game should be an extra bye week for the starters. Backups get some good reps. Ark 56 UTEP21 (Hogs 58 UTEP 21)

Game 11: Ark at Miss State
Miss State should be a no brainer Ark 42 Miss State 18 (Hogs 38 Bulldogs 31)

Game 12: Ark vs LSU (War Memorial)
Arkansas has had some good games with LSU the last few years. Arkansas has be very careful for this game because a possibility of being 11-1 and SEC West champ could lead to a let down. Hogs should keep their head straight and get by LSU in Little Rock. Ark 21 LSU 10 (Hogs 31 LSU 23)

SEC Championship
Arkansas has a good chance at winning the west. Bama should have two losses, one to Arkansas and the other to Auburn. Florida should win the East. With what happened in the game last year Arkansas will be extremely pumped for this game. Arkansas has the best shot at getting its first SEC championship this year.
Ark 21 Florida 13 (Razorbacks didn't make it to SEC Championship)

Bowl:
Based on my prediction Arkansas will play in its first BCS bowl. The Sugar bowl is the game for the Sec Champ vs BCS at large. I don't know who Ark should play here. I will say it could be either Boise St or even West Virginia. Arkansas is set up to have a magical year and should finish it off by winning the Sugar Bowl. (Hogs 26 Ohio State 31 in Sugar Bowl)

With all that said there are a few games that could go either way. Arkansas should finish anywhere from 9-3 to 11-1. All hog fans would love for the stars to align and the hogs go 12-0 and win the title. Even if Ryan Mallett was to go down with a injury Tyler Wilson should keep the team on a course of at least 8-4.
