2012: Year of the Hog

The stars seem to be aligning for the Arkansas Razorbacks to make a run at a SEC title and National Championship. Knile Davis has decided to stay at Arkansas at least one more year to give his all to Razorback Nation. Knile could have left for the NFL and started his career but choose to return to see how he could help the Hogs. Another piece of the puzzle decided to stay at Arkansas as well. Tyler Wilson will return to lead the Hogs. Colbi Hamilton and Chris Gragg also decided to stay. The offensive line should only improve. The defense showed promise in the short time with new defensive coordinator Paul Haynes. The Hogs are losing a lot at the wide out spot. All world receiver Joe Adams, Greg Childs, and Jaruis Wright all are gone to the NFL. Even with all those losses the Razorbacks have the players ready to step up in their place. Hogs are also chasing a major recruit in DGB. He is a guy that would be able to come in and play immediately as a freshman in the SEC. Even if DGB doesn't choose the Hogs they still have the weapons compete for the SEC and National Titles. 2012 should be the Year of the Hog. I am going to start a twitter campaign using the hash tag #2012YearoftheHog. If you agree use the hashtag to get the word out.

Is Alabama the True National Champion?

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images

The Alabama Crimson Tide won the BCS Championship Monday night 21-0 over the LSU Tigers. LSU won the first meeting 9-6 in overtime. The Tide missed 4 field goals in that first meeting. If the Tide make just one or two of those field goals the season changes for many teams at the top of the polls at the end of the season. OSU is trying to lay claim that they would have gave the Tide or the Tigers a better game. OSU barely survived past Stanford. The BCS system is BS but the system did was it was designed to do gave football fans the two best teams in the country. Alabama dominated LSU on Monday night. If someone saw the score their first thought would have been that the Tide won by three touchdowns. That was not the case. The Tide scored one touchdown with less than five minutes left in the game. Just like the first time it was all field goals to that point. One stat that really sticks out and has been made fun of plenty by LSU haters, is that LSU only advanced past the 50 yard line once in the game. LSU also only managed 92 yards of offense. LSU did win the first matchup but in my opinion Alabama beat themselves in the first matchup and proved Monday night that  they were the superior team in the SEC and thus the Country.

2011 Arkansas Razorback Prediction Recap

I wanted to keep my predictions on the same information so I continued with them as if Knile didn't get hurt. It will be tougher to go undefeated and win that National Championship. It is however still possible. If Ronnie Wingo and Dennis Johnson don't get a rhythm early in the season then it will be tough to run the table in the SEC with no run game. I used EA SPORTS NCAA FOOTBALL 12 on PS3 to make simulations of the 2011 season. I then gave my prediction as well as reported the results of the simulation. There were some games that I felt the simulation was dead on with and some that were crazy. One of the craziest was the Auburn game in which the simulation said the game was going to be a blowout. There is no way its a blowout. Auburn has lost too much of the offense for them to blow out the Hogs. I really think the key to the season will be the Razorback defense. There will be some shootout games but they wont be high scoring ones. I can see several 17-14 type games this year Alabama, Miss State, Texas A&M to name a few. This year would be the best chance the Hogs have had at a National Title in a long time. Hogs should get at least 10 wins and make a push for the SEC West and the SEC Championship. I really feel like a return trip to New Orleans is in the cards for the Hogs. Its just a matter of Sugar Bowl or National Championship Game. I would really love some feedback on how you think the Hogs season will turnout. Please feel free to check out all my blog postings and provide some feedback.
